Iran Suspends Death Sentences of Antigovernment Protesters, Executes Alleged CIA Spy

Iran bowed to domestic stress by suspending the death sentences of three alleged antigovernment protesters, but executed a man convicted of spying for the U.S. and Israel in a signal it would demonstrate no leniency towards these accused of collaborating with its overseas foes.

Iran’s judiciary mentioned Monday it had agreed to retry three protesters who have been arrested during demonstrations in November above the country’s troubled financial system and sentenced to death.
