Govt bans onion exports to check high prices

Exports of all varieties of onions, excluding these that are slash, sliced or in powder variety, have been banned by the authorities on Monday, with fast impact, in a move to check out spiralling selling prices in the neighborhood market place.

The Directorate Typical of International Trade, in a notification, specified that export of onions, which was so significantly no cost, is now prohibited. “The provisions below transitional arrangement shall not be applicable below this notification,” it extra.

In Delhi, onion selling prices have been ruling at a substantial of about ₹ 40 for every kilogram, producing discontentment among buyers.
