Centre targets 44.4 million tonnes wheat procurement, 4.3 million tonnes rabi rice

The Centre on Friday announced that it would acquire 44.4 million tonnes (mt) of wheat in the course of 2022-23 and 4.29 mt of rabi-developed rice underneath the bare minimum aid price (MSP) programme. On the other hand, the rice target does not incorporate the estimates of Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Telangana.
